WHAT DO CHILDREN LEARN AT NURSERY?

AT NURSERY WE PLAY!

Why? Well-planned play is essential for children to explore the world around them; learn to focus attention and learn to communicate and cooperate with others. Rich play experiences provides our children with wonderful opportunities to learn through experience and discovery.

Through observation and assessment, every one of our children is supported at the level of development they have reached in a particular area. As we work with our children, we aim to encourage them to develop and grow their confidence, self-esteem and resilience in order to extend their thoughts, ideas and interests.

We plan and prepare resources for play that reflect our children’s differing knowledge and broaden their interests. Children are given opportunity and space to practice what they have learned with adults in play. Our skilled team of staff develop children’s language and communication as children explore and play within the provision.

Our nursery curriculum is diverse and offers opportunities and experiences for inquiry based learning. We prioritise foundational knowledge and skills to ensure that our children have a strong start to their educational journey.

In our nursery, play is never about ‘occupying children’s time’. Play challenges our children’s ideas and thoughts, it gives opportunities for problem solving, it encourages persistence and resilience along with collaboration with other children and adults.

When can your child start and what times?

We have one point of entry each year in September. Children who have already turned 3 are eligible to start with us. We have a 52 place provision, with a morning class of 26 children and an afternoon class of 26 children.

We offer 15 hours per week for each child.

Our session timings are as follows:

Morning Nursery Class:   8.30am-11.30pm

Afternoon Nursery Class: 12.30pm-3.30pm
